Issues, not the candidate, should decide elections

The worst results in modern politics, from Hitler to Trump, come when the candidate is the deciding factor rather than the issues, especially when religion is involved.

Mass media has distorted the politically deciding factors by making a pretty face, good suit, beliefs and a big mouth all important.

This leads to catastrophe.

Honest debate all but disappears when the parties yell at each other about how bad they are, instead of truthfully debating the issues.

It is so bad that looking at things this way is considered idealistic instead of a realistic way of deciding on government, and in many cases is not even understood as the way to go about things.

Having TV and the internet decide elections has brainwashed the population so completely that the issues, and truth, disappear.
